Suicide Sucks hosted it’s first comedy night, Stand Up To Suicide, last night to raise awareness of the suicidal feelings many people face in their lifetime.
The event, which took place at Broad Close Farm Campsite in Barnsley, saw an evening of comedy acts, guest speakers such as Simon Mayo from Andy’s Man Club and podcast clippings detailing peoples experiences with suicide.
Mick Rowe, director of the Sheffield based charity that raises awareness of suicide, said: “Humour can heal, having a laugh about how difficult life is is really important.
“And more that we spread the word that it’s ok to talk, we can continue to bring some humour to it and help other people to get through the struggles that they’ve got.”
