A Barnsley-based organisation has won the 2024 innovation in STEAM education award for their work in primary schools.
Director of Amazelab, Leonie Briggs, 41, said: “We are very honoured.
“This very luckily adds to a number of awards since we established in 2020, including being an outstanding new STEM Ambassador or the STEM education award back in 2023.
“These subjects are so important for our young people and for the betterment of all of us in the future.”
The awards celebrate the individuals, organisations and STEAM clubs working to inspire young people in science, technology, engineering, arts and maths.
A student at Hoyland Common told ShefNews: “I like science because it’s really fun. In school, opportunities are endless because we get to do experiments, like turning celery blue.
“We do a range of chemistry, biology and physics, so we get to learn all types of technology, plants and humans.”
Amazelab aims is to deliver an inspiring, creative take on STEAM subjects, in a fun but thought-provoking manner.
Workshops, video links, activity packs, follow-along fact sheets, and guidance are open to all, from educational settings to non-school groups and everyone in between.
