Sheffield Coffee Festival is back for its fourth year and it is bigger and more sustainable than ever before.

This time, they have collaborated with Nottingham Coffee Festival to bring the events together and to allow attendees to get a change of environment.

The multi-venue celebration, happening on the weekend beginning June 1st, sheds light on Sheffield’s independent cafes.

The initial reason for the festival was to help independent and family-owned shops to build their businesses back up after the pandemic, ensuring that these local gems get the recognition they deserve as this is what makes the local coffee scene.

Due its growing popularity, it has become a yearly annual event.

Not all partaking businesses have been affected by the pandemic, but they have seen a positive flow of customers coming to their shops for a cup of coffee.

Matt Lucas, 49, the co-owner of Chapter One Coffee, says: “I know of many businesses who have been struggling after the pandemic. This has helped them back on their feet so I would say it’s encouraged to join as an independent.”

Some participating coffee shops, such as Bon, have organised their own mini events like ‘Sports Day’ before the event and more.

The festival also promotes sustainability as one of their main practices. Everything used will be green and eco-friendly such as the cups, coffee machines and festival materials.
