Stories of struggle and resilience by members of the LBGTQ+ community were shared at a talk at Sheffield Central Library on Wednesday.
Journalist and author CJ De Barra began this project just over three years ago, preserving stories that would have been lost otherwise.
De Barra said: “It’s important because we are losing our history. Our elders are passing away; with it, our history and their experiences aren’t being written down. I’m hoping with talks like this to encourage more people from the queer or any minority community to talk and record their elders experiences.”
The project ensures that the future generations of queer people can learn from the lives of those who came before them.
De Barra is set to release two books in June of this year.
