Sheffield’s most skilled and devoted citizens were recognised at the Lord Mayor Awards last night.
The event at Sheffield Town Hall celebrated those who go above and beyond to make Sheffield a booming place to live.
Councillor Jayne Dunn, the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, said she was thrilled to celebrate all the people who dedicate “their time and efforts to putting Sheffield on the map”.
She said: “The Lord Mayor Awards has brought together our diverse communities ensuring we celebrate each other and the wonderful people in Sheffield”.
Among the winners was Firas Sharefy, who was given the Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community award for setting up the Open Kitchen Social Club at St Andrews Church Hall, a place for asylum seekers and refugees in Sheffield.
