Eight novice comedians performed for the first time at the Chuckles for Charity fundraising event at The Leadmill last night.

The event was held by Sheffield Hospitals Charity and was hosted by Metro Edinburgh Festival Award Winner Anthony J. Brown.

Beth Crackles, the CEO of Sheffield Hospitals Charity said: “A number of the comedians have been personally affected by dementia in their families so they’re really passionate about it.

“We know that when people are diagnosed with dementia it doesn’t come with a manual and caring for them can be really really tough.”

Phil Turner, Sam Headford, Mark Rawson, Nigel Short, Laura Cartwright, Joe Gleadall, Alex Dobson and Ross Mussgrove all took to the stage for the first time.
