Popular food chain, Papa’s Fish and Chips, returns after its unforeseen closure in August 2024.

The restaurant, located in Crystal Peaks, celebrated its grand reopening last Thursday 15 May, by selling fish and chips for £1 all day long.

The restaurant originally opened in December 2022, but closed suddenly nine months later after weeks of uncertainty, with some customers reporting it closed during opening hours.

Liam Gladwin, Operations Director for Papa’s Fish and Chips, said: “We as a business are proud, we had our struggles with recruitment as well as other things that were out of our control so it was a shame to close.”

Naturally the closure was met with a lot of disappointment from its loyal customers.

As a great local food spot in Sheffield, it created a close knit community of food lovers and brought pride to Sheffield with one of the best fish and chips restaurants.

Mr Gladwin said: “We’re proud of the products we serve and we deliver a menu that we are really proud of.”

The bond between Papa’s and it’s customers is strong – one that’s built through the years of quality service and dedication to tradition.

In January 2025, the sign had changed from “closed” to “closed until further notice”. With everything clear and ready to go the restaurant reopened this month.

Mr Gladwin said: “When we are ready we open. The worst thing a business in hospitality can do is to open the store up too quickly. When we get to that position, we must assess the situation.”

New manager, Michelle Morley, who has more than 30 years in the industry said: “Our £1 fish and chips was a way to thank our loyal customers and for our new ones to experience the positive changes that we have made.”

Papa’s fish and chips has won many awards, such as: Britain’s best and largest fish and chips in the UK as well as being televised in 2017 on BBC News.

The restaurant has hopes to grow and open up for flagship stores across the UK, see the website https://papasfishandchips.com/crystalpeaks/ for more.
