The deadline for the Made in Sheffield awards to celebrate local business has been extended.
The event recognises local businesses successes in designing, producing and manufacturing goods globally. The deadline for entries which was originally 19 February was extended to 5 March after firms requested more time.
Businesses can enter for seven different categories: Manufacturing Innovation, Export, Apprentice of the Year, Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer of the Year, Manufacturing Start Up (a new award for 2026), Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m), and the grand prix Made in Sheffield award.
The winners of the Food and Drink award 2024 Cafeology’s quality manager Joe Cross said: “Winning the Food & Drink Award was a real honour for everyone at Cafeology. Sheffield has such a strong and diverse community of food and drink producers, so to be recognised among so many respected local businesses meant a great deal to us.”

The awards focus on newly established businesses which show immense potential and recognise companies’ ongoing commitment to world class quality manufacturing.
SBD Apparel won for manufacturer of the year in 2024. Commercial director William Islip said: “Winning a Made in Sheffield Award is incredibly meaningful for SBD. Sheffield’s heritage is built on world-class manufacturing, and being recognised among the region’s best is a proud validation of the craftsmanship, innovation, and dedication that goes into everything we produce.”

Any business nominated for an award in Sheffield will be automatically enrolled into the national awards.
Joe Cross said: “It was also a privilege to be invited to represent Sheffield at the Made in the UK Awards in Liverpool later in the year. Being part of that national event alongside other regional winners was a brilliant experience and a reminder of the strength of manufacturing and production businesses across the UK.”
The awards take place every other year and are sponsored by Insider Media. This year the event takes place on the 7 May at the Cutlers Hall.
The event is sponsored by Aon, BHP, BRM, Elevation Recruitment Group, HSBC UK Corporate Banking, Rathbones, and Brand North.
Applications for this year’s awards have now closed but more information is available on the Made in Sheffield website.
