A house fire on Harcourt Road was discovered by students after a night out last Saturday.
There are ongoing investigations into the cause of the fire which was seen blazing through the front room window of the house, burning through the glass windows.
Residents said they were terrified as they were woken up by students ‘banging on doors’ and shouting ‘fire, fire.’
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived immediately, with three fire engines in attendance and multiple firefighters seen swarming into the house.
Next-door neighbour Ellie Hewson said: “A woman ran out of the house and said her son was still upstairs, so my housemate ran in. It was really scary.
“Thankfully everyone was safe, but very shaken.”
The fire service cordoned off the area and dispersed gathering crowds.
