Barnsley 10k set for June return

The Barnsley 10k run will commence again this summer, with the route once again navigating through Barnsley Town Centre.

The event, organised by Active in Barnsley, is part of the #WhatsYourMove campaign. This initiative aims to help Barnsley to improve physical and mental health. 

1,000 places are up for grabs in the race, with applications opening at 5pm on Tuesday 23rd February. 

Barnsley Council have announced that the race will take place on Sunday 30th June at 9am, where the route passes through Barnsley town centre, Wilthorpe and Redbrook, before looping back around the Claycliffe area. 

The event will be closed to traffic from 8.30am until 11am with a time limit of two hours for the race. Runners still involved in the race will be moved to the pavements for safety.

BBC One Gladiators: Sheffield grandfather to inspire generations after exit

Paul Campbell, 58, from Millhouses Sheffield and the oldest contestant to ever take part in the show has been eliminated has said his mission is to inspire future generations following his brave exit.

Campbell lost out to fellow contestant Dev, 30, from Essex for a spot in the quarter final of the competition.

Thousands of illegal vapes seized by Sheffield Trading Standards

Shefnews spoke to city councillor Joe Otten as he expressed his concerns over the severe consequences of the increasing use of disposable vapes.

South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield Trading Standards carried out over 100 inspection visits to local businesses and found many selling illegal brands.

Sheffield Wednesday supporter group speak on plans after protest success

A Sheffield Wednesday supporter group plan to build on the ‘massive success’ following a flyer display in the game against Birmingham last week.

The group who organised the protest have announced they are considering plans for future actions and have not ruled out more extreme protests if their ownership situation remains unchanged.
