Sheffield’s high street thriving thanks to Lunar New Year Trail
An interactive Lunar New Year Trail has been welcomed by selected stores from Sheffield Business Improvement District across the city centre.
The trail involves using a mobile device to scan a QR code that can be found in the windows of each nominated store.

Sheffield retain international ‘Purple Flag’ award for 12th year
Sheffield has been reaccredited with the international award for its night time economy covering culture eateries and safety.
Shefnews can exclusively reveal that Sheffield has been awarded with the Purple Flag by the Association of Town and City Management.

Daniel Balazs, 21, stabbed Daniel Micska, 28, in the chest with a 12cm blade around 9pm on August 9 2023.
Sheffield Crown Court took 50 minutes to deliberate before finding Balazs guilty of murder and he was jailed for a minimum of 20 years.
M1 near Barnsley reopened after serious collision
Severe delays on the M1 this morning after it was closed due to a serious collision.
Police were called to reports that a black Land Rover had crashed into a safety barrier at junction 37 at about 5:30 on Thursday.
The driver, in his 40s, suffered non life threatening injuries, South Yorkshire Police said.
The road closure was lifted just before 8:00am between junctions 36 and 37.
There were slight delays still in the area.
