As kitten season commences, a high influx of cats and kittens adds additional strains onto services. Among those effected is charity, The Sheffield cat shelter, who work all year round to provide cats with a safe home and medical treatment if necessary.
During the spring and summer however, there is a higher number of kittens born, and therefore more abandonments. This has led the charity to appeal for more volunteers to help with the increase in care.
The situation has been worsened by the cost of living crisis, which has meant cat owners may not be able to afford cat care or neutering and therefore feel there are no other options but to give up their cat, or simply abandon.
